LA VALLÉE
(June 2, 2000) - Quebec musician Sorin Pavelesco is behind the
Revival project. "The Longest Dream" offers instrumental music with an
ambient edge that takes you on a journey. As a reference point we can
mention Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre; we find similar structures and
musical themes but Revival's music is darker and, thankfully,
more modern through its sounds. "The Longest Dream" takes you on a trip. In
fact it would make an ideal film soundtrack since its many moods unfold like
a good story: tense action, peaceful moments and enigmatic scenes.
Having drawn inspiration from the world of dreams the composer scatters
piano melodies throughout his entire work. He has created some memorable
themes that accompany the listener on this ethereal voyage.
The quality of the production is high. It is rare to witness such a level of
craftsmanship from an independent artist. This proves one doesn't
necessarily need the Sony name to do good work... Sorin Pavelesco's music
has nothing to envy that of other composers in this genre. It is a solid
effort that can be enjoyed attentively or as background music while doing
something else... like travelling to imaginary lands.

(Jacques Garcia)
